Platform and SRE Engineer

Own the infrastructure under regulated platforms: pipelines, clusters, observability, disaster recovery and the cost model.

The work

Our clients run platforms that have to stay up through an unpredictable peak and be explainable to an auditor months later. You will design and build those estates as code, then make them observable enough that an incident is short and a regulator question is answerable.

Design and build cloud estates as infrastructure code, with environment parity and reviewed change only
Run and improve Kubernetes workloads, including autoscaling behaviour under a step change in load
Build the observability layer: metrics, logs, traces, service level objectives and alerting that reaches a person who can act
Design backup, recovery and failover, then prove it with a real recovery exercise
Attribute and control cloud spend, and bring the savings to the client as a decision rather than a surprise

What we need from you

Production experience running Kubernetes, not just deploying to it
Terraform or equivalent, with a real opinion about state and module structure
Deep familiarity with at least one major cloud provider, ideally AWS
Practical observability experience: you have shortened an incident with a dashboard you built
Security instincts: least privilege, secret handling, audit logging

Useful, not required

Regulated or audited environments, and the evidence packs that go with them
Kafka or managed streaming operations
Cost engineering at a scale where it mattered

Technical conversation

Ninety minutes on real problems from our domain. No algorithm puzzles, no whiteboard theatre, no trick questions.

Paid exercise

Optional, four hours maximum, paid at your day rate. Only where a conversation genuinely cannot settle the question.

Offer
