Senior Backend Engineer
Build and harden the services behind live iGaming platforms: wallets, ledgers, bonus engines and the integrations around them.

The work
You will work inside client platforms that are already carrying real players and real money. The work is service design, integration and the unglamorous correctness that keeps a ledger reconcilable. We care more about how you reason about a retry than about how many frameworks you have used.
- Design and build services that move money correctly under concurrency, retries and partial failure
- Integrate game aggregators, payment providers and compliance vendors, including the failure paths
- Write the tests that matter: money paths, idempotency, reconciliation and negative cases on compliance gates
- Review other engineers work, and have yours reviewed by architects and principals
- Carry the context that makes an incident short, and write the runbook afterwards

What we need from you
- Substantial production experience with Node.js and TypeScript in a service architecture
- Comfort with a document or relational database at scale, including index and query behaviour
- A real understanding of idempotency, transactional boundaries and eventual consistency
- Experience owning something in production, including being on call for it
- Clear written English, because much of this work is specification and review
Useful, not required
- iGaming, payments, or another regulated domain where correctness is audited
- Kafka or another event streaming platform
- Kubernetes familiarity, enough to debug your own service in it

Introduction
Thirty minutes with the person who would lead your work. Not a screening call with a recruiter who cannot answer your questions.

Technical conversation
Ninety minutes on real problems from our domain. No algorithm puzzles, no whiteboard theatre, no trick questions.

Paid exercise
Optional, four hours maximum, paid at your day rate. Only where a conversation genuinely cannot settle the question.

Offer
A decision within two working days of the final stage, with written feedback either way.
